About us
We develop sustainable large-scale renewable energy projects within South Africa – all in close partnership with the landowners, local communities, environmental groups, and public stakeholders.
Founded in 2009, Red Cap is one of South Africa’s leading renewable energy developers. Our key purpose is to advance renewable power and champion meaningful impact. We are 100% South African-owned and managed – and we aim to keep it that way.

People
We involve all stakeholders to develop successful projects, building relationships with landowners based on trust and mutual benefits and collaborating with like-minded organisations who are invested in building a sustainable future. As part of the development process, we work to uplift the communities within our wind farm areas through job creation, socioeconomic development, and have pioneered large-scale community ownership of wind farms.
Power
We develop large-scale renewable energy projects (wind and solar farms) to supply clean and sustainable electricity solutions. With the understanding that our projects will power Southern Africa for years to come, we take a strategic, long-term view of the development process. So far, we’ve been responsible for developing 191MW of installed wind power and have 1.5GW of wind power fully permitted – with 330MW under construction and an additional 2GW in various stages of development.
Planet
The protection of our natural world is a cause close to our hearts. We work closely with environmental groups to ensure that we have a positive and sustainable impact in the areas where we are active. One example is the Greater Kromme Stewardship, which aims to protect critical biodiversity in the Kouga – Tsitsikamma region of the Eastern Cape. Established by a local environmental NGO and wind farm developers, we have been actively involved in this initiative.
