What We Do

Red Cap Energy (Pty) Ltd (Red Cap) is a 100% South African owned and managed company that develops renewable energy businesses and projects.

Building on the success of REIPPPP we are now innovating in areas outside of the REIPPPP programme and we are nimble at adapting our business to achieving success in a constantly changing policy environment.

We have successfully developed the Kouga Wind Farm (80MW) and the Gibson Bay Wind Farm (111MW), both in the Kouga Municipality in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa, and are expanding our wind portfolio in partnership with Enel Green Power in Southern Africa.
We are focused on developing sustainable large-scale wind energy projects across Southern Africa – all in close partnership with the local community, environmental groups and public stakeholders.

In terms of sustainability, we aim to have a positive impact on both the environment and communities in which we are active, as seen during the development of the Kouga Wind Farm and Gibson Bay Wind Farm, where we pioneered large-scale community ownership.  In addition, we proactively engaged with the Endangered Wildlife Trust, Bird Life South Africa, The St Francis Kromme Trust and other wind farms in the areas to start the Greater Kromme Stewardship initiative.   This conservation initiative aims to secure critical biodiversity in the Kouga – Tsitsikamma region of the Eastern Cape and also aims to create conservation related business opportunities for the local communities in the area.

Innovating Energy
Our vision is to identify and develop sustainable business opportunities within renewables locally and within Southern Africa, setting the industry standard and driving best practice, ensuring sustainable social & economic benefits to the community.
